In search of the best free shopping cart solution, we tried out several solutions. Here are the results we found:
- PrestaShop: good, has lots of features, has guest checkout, but didn’t work for Lebanon because it said that “no carrier” is available for this location although I tried setting it, so it might not work for all countries.
- CubeCart: Confusing, confusing for the buyer, doesn’t look too good, has limited customization. When buying, it only sent an order email to admin, not to the buyer.
- OS Commerce:Â Has good back end, but has a complex/bad looking checkout procedure. When buying, it only sent an order email to buyer.
- AgoraCart: It’s ok, not very customizable, needs html or image editing to customize or add a logo. Had a problem with the check out procedure because it needed a “secure” subdomain.
- OpenCart: Great, looks great, easy to use, does everything, so it’s perfect. Can easily add logo. Limited but ok customization. You’d have to manually customize the look through php editing or downloading other themes. It includes gift vouchers and an affiliate system.
- TomatoCart: Good, but a bit complex, and has limited customization.
Verdict: The best free shopping cart or shop site solution is OpenCart. The runner up would be TomatoCart. Do you agree? Let us know what you think the best free shopping cart is.
